So you're a kid from an upper-middle class American family. You go to University, pass your exams and are expected to go to Harvard to study law. Eventually you wonder: Who am I trying to please here? And: How much of my own life will be left?

The ground is fertile for exploration, personal growth, new experiences and eventually, the peace and isolation of Alaska. In the hands of an independent film-maker these elements might have provided a movie rich in subtle beauty.

The result is a preachy biopic where the power of the natural landscapes is mashed into a hideous montage of tv-style editing, and let's spell everything out narration. And have you heard? Eddie Vedder is making a comeback on the syurpy indulgent soundtrack. Give me a break.
