Urban Games
From mint media
I was interesed to attend a talk by Dr Helena Karsten about her work with location-based games. We're talking about bringing performance and play into public spaces with the use of technology. Some examples used a Bluetooth beacon to transmit messages to cellphones as they came into the area. The messages formed part of a murder mystery game. Previously I was aware of physical pacman. These are interesting ideas, particularly in terms of play as a learning experience.
Dr Helena Karsten, is head of the Zeta Emerging Technologies Laboratory and Professor of Information Systems at the University of Turku.
